Overview
Mercor is hiring pediatricians on behalf of a healthcare AI partner building advanced clinical documentation tools. In this role you will apply your pediatric clinical expertise to review, annotate, and evaluate clinical documentation, directly shaping the accuracy, safety, and clinical usefulness of medical AI systems.
What You’ll Do
- Review pediatric clinical documentation and patient charts for accuracy, completeness, and clinical soundness
- Evaluate AI-generated clinical summaries against what a practicing pediatrician would expect to see
- Annotate clinical encounter data against detailed guidelines
- Flag omissions, hallucinations, clinical inaccuracies, and documentation gaps in AI-generated output
- Provide structured, written feedback that engineering and product teams can act on
- Contribute expert input on annotation guidelines and edge-case definitions
- Raise clarifying questions where guidance is ambiguous and help refine the guidelines
Requirements
- MD with a background as a pediatrician
- US-based
- Available for a minimum of 10 hours/week through mid-November
Who Should Apply
Apply if you are a practicing or recently active pediatrician seeking flexible supplementary income, especially if you have curiosity about AI/ML and want to contribute to the accuracy of clinical tools without full-time commitment. This role suits detail-oriented clinicians who can articulate what good clinical documentation looks like and who enjoy written feedback and guideline refinement work. You will likely find this frustrating if you need significant income from clinical work (the 10 hours/week minimum is modest), if you prefer hands-on patient care to documentation review, or if you're uncomfortable with the ambiguity that often comes with early-stage annotation projects.
Salary Insight
$150/hour is a strong rate for part-time contract clinical work, positioning this as a premium engagement for active practitioners who want flexible supplementary income. The hourly model is transparent and the minimum 10 hours/week commitment (roughly $1,500/week if met) is modest enough to fit around an active practice. Payments are weekly, which is favorable for contract work. However, verify whether this rate is consistent if the engagement extends beyond mid-November or if rates adjust for different project phases.

Application Tip
Lead with a specific example of a clinical documentation mistake or ambiguity you've caught in your own practice—this shows you think like a documentation reviewer already. If you have any prior experience with AI/ML annotation, quality assurance, or clinical guideline development, flag it explicitly; the posting lists it as preferred but many applicants will miss the signal. Your cover note should briefly explain why you're interested in this specific task (shaping AI accuracy, exploring AI/ML, flexible income model) and confirm your availability for the 10 hours/week minimum; vagueness on either point will likely screen you out.
