1. Who we are

MyRemoteJobs ("we", "us", "our") operates myremotejobs.io, a job board and set of AI-powered career tools -- CV Builder, TailorFit, LinkedIn Generator, Mock Interview, ATS Checker, AI Job Match, and Cover Letter Generator -- for remote job seekers. This policy explains what information we collect through the site, how we use it, and who else ever sees it.

2. Information we collect

Account information: your name and email address, and a profile photo if you sign in with Google. If you sign up with email and password instead, we store a securely hashed version of your password -- never the password itself.

Resume and career content: whatever you upload or type into our tools -- resume files, job titles, target roles, job descriptions you paste in for tailoring, hiring manager names, mock interview answers, and any resulting AI-generated output (cover letters, LinkedIn sections, tailored resumes, ATS scores and feedback, interview feedback).

Payment information: handled entirely by our payment processor, Paystack. We never see or store your card number, expiry, or CVV -- see "Payment information" below for exactly what we do keep.

Usage information: basic technical data every web server logs automatically (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging, not for tracking or advertising.

3. How we use your information

To operate the tools themselves -- turning what you upload or type into a formatted resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, interview session, ATS score, or job match.

To run your account -- signing you in, remembering your subscription tier, showing your saved documents on your dashboard.

To process payments and keep your subscription status accurate, via Paystack.

To send transactional email -- for example, a copy of a document you've downloaded, or account-related notices. We don't send marketing email you haven't asked for.

To keep the service secure and working -- diagnosing errors, preventing abuse of the tools or the job board.

4. AI processing -- what happens when a tool uses AI

CV Builder's AI-assist, TailorFit, Cover Letter Generator, LinkedIn Generator, Mock Interview, ATS Checker, and AI Job Match all send the relevant content you've provided (your resume data, a job description, an interview answer, and similar) to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the actual output. This is the only way these tools can work -- there's no way to get AI-generated career content without that content being processed by an AI model.

We don't use your resume or personal content to train our own models, and we don't sell it to anyone. Anthropic processes this data under its own API terms, which (as of when this was written) don't use API traffic to train Anthropic's models either -- see Anthropic's own privacy documentation for their current, authoritative policy, since that's outside our control and can change independently of this page.

5. What gets saved to your account -- and what doesn't

CV Builder, Upload & Remodel, TailorFit, and Cover Letter Generator save the document you actually build to your account (visible on your dashboard, so you can revisit, edit, or re-download it later).

LinkedIn Generator, Mock Interview, AI Job Match, and ATS Checker do not save your uploaded resume or the tool's output anywhere -- the file and the result exist only for that session. Close the tab, and it's gone. Each of those tools states this directly in its own FAQ as well.

Free-template downloads (no account) are logged only as an email address, the tool used, and the template chosen -- not the resume content itself -- so we can send you the file and keep a record that the download happened.

6. Payment information

All card payments are processed directly by Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We never receive, see, or store your full card number, expiry date, or CVV -- that information goes straight to Paystack.

What we do store, tied to your account: your subscription tier (Standard or Pro), its status (active, cancelled, and so on), and reference codes Paystack gives us to identify your subscription (not your card). Managing or cancelling your subscription happens through Paystack's own hosted billing page, linked from your account.

7. Cookies and sessions

We use two cookies, both strictly functional: a session cookie to keep you signed in after you log in, and one that remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. That's it. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data to ad networks or data brokers.

8. Visitor statistics

We count page views so we know which parts of the site are useful. This is done on our own server -- no Google Analytics, no third-party tracker, and nothing extra stored in your browser.

For each page view we record the page path, the site that linked you to us (its domain only, never the full address), whether you're on a phone, tablet or desktop, and your country. We do not store your IP address, your browser's user agent, or any identifier that persists.

Your country is worked out on our own server by looking your IP address up in a downloaded country table (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, licensed CC BY 4.0). Your IP address is not sent anywhere to do this, and only the two-letter country code is kept -- never a city, a region or a location.

To count one person visiting five pages as one visitor rather than five, we create a short code from your IP address and browser combined with a secret that changes every day. Your IP address is used to make that code and is then discarded -- it is never written down. Because the secret changes daily, the code cannot be used to recognise you tomorrow, and it cannot be traced back to you at all.

If you have an account, none of this is linked to it. We do not build a profile of what any individual reads.

9. Third-party service providers

A handful of specialist providers power different parts of the site, each only seeing the data relevant to what they do: Paystack (payment processing), Google (sign-in, if you choose that option), Anthropic (AI generation, see section 4), Resend (transactional email delivery), and Hostinger (the server the site and its database run on). None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes beyond providing that service to us. Your account and document data lives in a database on that server, not with a third-party data platform.

10. Data retention

We keep your account and saved documents for as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and everything tied to it deleted, contact us (see "Contact us" below) and we'll remove it, aside from records we're legally required to keep (for example, payment records for tax/accounting purposes).

11. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to: tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct anything that's inaccurate, or delete your account and associated data. Email us and we'll handle it directly -- there's no need to submit a formal request through a third-party portal.

12. Children's privacy

MyRemoteJobs is intended for people old enough to be job-seeking and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

13. International users

MyRemoteJobs is operated from Nigeria, and some of our service providers (including Anthropic and Resend) are based in other countries, meaning your data may be processed outside the country you're browsing from. By using the site, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.

14. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data -- encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our database. No method of storing or transmitting data online is 100% secure, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

15. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date below and, for significant changes, make a reasonable effort to notify account holders directly.
