Overview
micro1 is engaging Bilingual Japanese Psychiatrists to contribute to a customer-focused project training next-generation AI systems. You'll apply your psychiatric expertise to develop case studies, conduct assessments, and provide expert annotations that help AI models learn from real-world, culturally nuanced psychiatric scenarios.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and evaluate complex psychiatric case studies to inform AI model training with real-world, culturally nuanced scenarios
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments and provide expert annotations reflecting Japanese psychiatric practices and perspectives
- Produce clear, precise documentation and written analyses in both Japanese and English, ensuring cultural and clinical accuracy
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration, sharing insights with AI project teams to enhance model understanding of psychiatric concepts
- Apply ethical decision-making in the review and critique of sensitive case content, maintaining patient confidentiality and best practices
- Contribute to the creation of bilingual communication frameworks for accurate psychiatric information exchange
- Offer expert feedback on the analytical evaluation methods used by AI systems in mental health contexts
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) with completed psychiatry residency and valid medical license
- Native fluency in Japanese and advanced proficiency in English, with demonstrated ability in both written and verbal communication
- Extensive experience in psychiatric assessment, treatment planning, and case documentation within Japanese clinical settings
- Proven capability to apply cultural sensitivity and ethical reasoning to complex mental health scenarios
- Strong background in developing teaching materials or case studies for educational or research purposes
- Experience collaborating on interdisciplinary projects, ideally involving technology, research, or digital health
- Familiarity with both Western and Japanese psychiatric frameworks
Who Should Apply
This role suits licensed psychiatrists with genuine bilingual fluency who enjoy structured knowledge work and have confidence teaching others (via case studies and annotations). It's ideal for someone who finds clinical practice fulfilling but wants flexible remote work and intellectual variety. It will frustrate someone who needs the dynamic human interaction of direct patient care, craves autonomy to design their own clinical protocols, or lacks comfort with documenting nuance for non-clinical audiences.
Salary Insight
The $100–$200/hr range is wide because it likely reflects experience level and licensing jurisdiction; a fully credentialed psychiatrist with extensive case study writing background would command the upper end. This is contractor work with no benefits mentioned, so factor in self-employment taxes and lack of health insurance or retirement contributions when comparing to salaried clinical roles.

Application Tip
Lead with a case study or teaching material you've created that demonstrates your ability to distil complex psychiatric reasoning into clear, annotated form—ideally something that shows cultural nuance or cross-cultural comparison. Hiring managers for AI training work are less interested in your clinical credentials alone (those are table stakes) and more interested in evidence you can articulate expertise in writing, not just in practice. A brief mention of any prior work with non-clinical stakeholders (research collaboration, education, digital health projects) will set you apart from strong clinicians who've never had to make their knowledge explicit for outsiders.
