What they do

Micro1 connects certified domain experts with companies building and evaluating frontier AI systems. Work varies widely: you might evaluate AI-generated answers, create training data, review code, record yourself performing tasks, complete professional workflows, or apply specialist knowledge to AI projects.

For traditional expert roles, projects involve judging model outputs, creating rubrics and prompts, performing research, or completing realistic professional workflows. For physical-world AI projects, Micro1 recruits people to record themselves performing household tasks (cooking, organizing, using tools) or skilled trades (plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, equipment handling).

How the hiring and certification process works

Unlike a conventional job board, Micro1 uses AI-based skill verification rather than recruiter screening. You choose one core area of expertise, then complete an AI interview with Zara, Micro1's automated recruiter. The conversational interview (typically 20–40 minutes) adapts to your background and can include technical questions, coding challenges, scenario-based problems, or data-annotation exercises.

Real-time feedback tells you whether you've achieved certification for that skill. Certification does not guarantee work; it makes you eligible for matching when relevant projects become available. You can also apply directly to open opportunities. To increase options, you can get certified in multiple skills.

Compensation and payment

Micro1 pays on a fixed schedule twice monthly. Compensation structure varies by project: some pay hourly, others pay per completed task that meets requirements, per approved recording, or for scheduled availability. Always read the individual listing before accepting; the payment model is not universal across all opportunities.

As of October 2026, active experts who earn payment in at least four biweekly cycles per quarter qualify for a Rest Credit bonus of approximately 1% of qualifying earnings (minimum $75, no maximum), paid automatically. Experts see the rate before accepting any project and can decline without penalty.

What you need

Most roles require a reliable computer, internet connection, working camera and microphone, and a quiet environment to interview clearly. You'll need a CV or professional background and a clearly defined area of expertise. For recording-based projects, requirements can be strict: current opportunities specify iPhone 12+, Google Pixel 6–9, or Samsung Galaxy S21+ with a wearable phone mount, plus specific country eligibility.

Micro1 provides a free practice interview tool before the real assessment. Use it to get comfortable explaining your actual experience rather than memorizing answers. The goal is to demonstrate genuine knowledge in your chosen skill.

Location and eligibility

Micro1 hires globally but excludes certain countries (listed on their site) for legal and regulatory reasons. However, 'global hiring' does not mean every project is available everywhere. Individual opportunities often have specific country restrictions, particularly recording projects that may be limited to the US, LATAM, or other regions. Always check the Location field before applying.
