Overview
micro1 is training AI systems by having experts create high-quality, real-world mobile engineering tasks. In this role, you'll design challenging Reinforcement Learning Environments that test AI models' ability to solve complex mobile software problems—fixing bugs, building features, refactoring code, and optimizing performance—using your preferred mobile development stack.
What You’ll Do
- Create realistic, interesting, and extremely challenging mobile coding tasks for frontier AI models
- Design problems that require strong mobile engineering skills such as debugging, building features, handling application state and lifecycle, and performance optimization
- Develop tasks relevant to your expertise in cross-platform (TypeScript/JavaScript/Dart), iOS (Swift), or Android (Kotlin) applications
- For each task, define the problem, build a reproducible environment, and write deterministic verifiers that accept correct solutions while rejecting incorrect or incomplete approaches
- Provide reference solutions showing how each task can be solved
Requirements
- Significant hands-on expertise in at least one mobile development track: cross-platform (TypeScript/JavaScript with React Native, or Dart with Flutter), iOS (Swift with SwiftUI or UIKit), or Android (Kotlin with Jetpack Compose or Android View system)
- Deep understanding of mobile application architecture, state management, asynchronous programming, and application lifecycle
- Proven ability to debug complex mobile applications, resolve bugs, and deliver effective performance improvements
Who Should Apply
Apply if you're a strong mobile engineer who enjoys teaching and can articulate complex problems clearly—you'll be designing tasks for AI, not just solving them. This suits someone who thrives working solo, likes variety, and can move quickly; it will frustrate anyone who needs detailed specifications upfront, close collaboration, or a predictable weekly paycheck.
Salary Insight
Payment is output-based per completed task rather than hourly, so the $50–$100/hr range represents expected throughput value rather than guaranteed pay. The actual earnings depend on how many tasks you can complete to specification each week; minimum weekly submission requirements will be clarified during onboarding. This is typical for AI training work where quality and speed determine income.

Application Tip
Lead with 2–3 specific mobile problems you've solved end-to-end: a tricky bug you tracked down, a performance bottleneck you diagnosed, or a non-trivial feature you shipped. This team needs to see you can think clearly about problem design, not just code—they're hiring for someone who can create realistic, reproducible scenarios that test an AI system fairly. Include a short note on your preferred mobile stack and why you'd want to create tasks in it.
