Overview
micro1 is engaging Sound Designers to contribute expertise in an AI training and data annotation project. You'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems by reviewing video sessions, editing audio tracks, and providing detailed annotations on audio components.
What You’ll Do
- Review and assess video sessions featuring robotic arms completing real-world tasks, focusing on the audio component
- Edit and annotate audio tracks to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency for AI training purposes
- Restore audio quality by removing unwanted noise, distortion, and inconsistencies
- Provide detailed feedback and annotations regarding specific sounds, events, or anomalies within each video session
- Collaborate with project leads and fellow contributors to confirm annotation standards and resolve ambiguities
Requirements
- Sound editing expertise
- Audio restoration techniques
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to identify subtle audio nuances
- Background in audio data annotation or similar technical review assignments (advantageous)
Who Should Apply
This role suits sound professionals or audio engineers who are detail-oriented and enjoy methodical work reviewing and improving audio quality. It's ideal if you want flexible remote contract work without needing AI expertise. It will frustrate someone who wants creative sound design work or rapid project momentum — this is review and annotation, often repetitive, with quality standards that demand consistency over speed.

If you have a track record in professional sound restoration or audio annotation, push toward the higher end during rate discussions. Application Tip
Lead with a specific example of audio restoration or annotation work you've completed — mention a project where you identified or fixed a particular audio issue, and what the outcome was. Hiring managers for annotation work prioritize demonstrated consistency and ear for detail over credentials; a portfolio sample or brief case study of your quality standards will stand out much more than a list of tools you use.
