Overview

micro1 is an AI data lab that transforms expert knowledge into high-quality training data for frontier models. This role focuses on reviewing and annotating videos of robotic arms performing designated tasks to help train next-generation AI systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Review video footage of robotic arms executing assigned tasks to identify key actions and outcomes
  • Apply detailed grading guidelines to accurately tag and annotate events within video sessions
  • Utilize video annotation tools and platforms to record structured observations and support data labeling efforts
  • Collaborate with project trainers and other contributors to resolve ambiguities and ensure annotation consistency
  • Document findings and submit annotated datasets in alignment with project standards and milestones
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and insights promptly using both written and verbal channels
  • Participate in ongoing quality reviews to maintain high annotation standards and address feedback

Requirements

  • Video annotation experience
  • Data labeling experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management and self-organization
  • Familiarity with video annotation tools and platforms
  • Background in AI training, machine learning data preparation, or robotics projects (strongly preferred)

Who Should Apply

This role suits people with meticulous attention to detail, prior experience in video annotation or data labeling, and comfort working independently on structured tasks. You'll thrive if you enjoy precision work and can maintain consistency across hundreds of hours of material. This will frustrate someone who finds detailed visual review tedious or who prefers less structured, creative work.

Salary Insight

The $50–$90/hour range is wide and reflects both contractor status and variation by experience level. At the lower end, you're likely entry-level or new to annotation work; at the upper end, you bring proven accuracy and speed from prior annotation projects. Clarify during scoping which band you'll be placed in based on your portfolio and references from past annotation work.

Application Tip

Lead with a specific annotation project you've completed — describe the volume of material, the annotation schema, and your accuracy rate or how feedback loops improved your work. Reviewers will assess your speed and precision, so quantify those where you can. A hiring manager here is really asking: can you reliably tag hundreds of hours of video against detailed rubrics without drift? Show that directly, and mention any experience specifically with robotics or AI training data if you have it.
