micro1 is building AI systems for legal work. This part-time contract role involves reviewing AI responses to litigation scenarios, assessing their quality, and helping train advanced legal AI models on realistic case analysis and argument construction.
What You’ll Do
- Perform simulated litigation tasks such as issue spotting, legal analysis, and argument construction
- Review and assess AI responses to litigation scenarios, providing expert feedback to improve model performance and output precision
- Create objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria to assess AI performance on legal tasks with rigor and consistency
- Collaborate with product and research teams to refine data, guidelines, and best practices for AI-driven legal solutions
Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Actively practicing attorney in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, or compliance
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong analytical capabilities and ability to translate legal expertise into actionable feedback for AI systems
- Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments
Who Should Apply
This suits experienced litigators or corporate attorneys who think carefully about legal reasoning and enjoy explaining judgment calls to others—and who are genuinely curious about how AI learns from human expertise. It will frustrate someone who sees legal work as purely execution, or who wants steady full-time hours and a traditional career path; this is part-time contract work that demands clarity about how you actually solve problems.
Salary Insight
$80–$150/hr is a wide band that reflects the span from junior to senior practitioners; experienced litigators and those with prior AI or training experience will land in the upper range. No salary figures are available for comparison, but this is contract work (no benefits), so compare the hourly rate to your full-time equivalent and the flexibility you're trading for certainty.

Application Tip
Lead with a specific example of a motion you wrote, a brief you analyzed, or a complex issue you spotted—one that shows how you break down a problem and explain your reasoning step-by-step. The core work here is teaching an AI system by example, not just verifying outputs, so hiring managers want to see someone who can articulate the judgment, not just the conclusion. Mention any teaching, judging, or technical collaboration experience, as these directly signal your ability to translate expertise into feedback frameworks.
