Overview

micro1 is engaging Voice Actor/Coaches to evaluate and analyze speech recordings for an AI voice and speech technology project. You'll apply voice expertise to produce structured written assessments that help train next-generation AI systems, requiring no prior AI experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze short speech recordings and produce precise, structured written assessments using professional voice terminology
  • Identify and describe vocal characteristics such as age, gender, accent or dialect, vocal quality, resonance, phonation type, pitch, intonation, breath support, rhythm, and tempo
  • Evaluate emotional tone, energy, articulation clarity, and overall delivery style
  • Assess audio production aspects, including room sound, device type, and recording environment quality
  • Deliver observations in clear, detailed written reports using consistent technical language
  • Collaborate asynchronously via digital platforms
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy throughout all analyses and documentation

Requirements

  • Voice acting, voice coaching, dialect coaching, or vocal pedagogy background
  • Strong understanding of speech analysis, prosody, intonation, phonetics, accent and dialect variation, and vocal quality assessment
  • Experience with audio or sound engineering, especially in evaluating recording quality and acoustic environments
  • Familiarity with technical vocal concepts such as resonance, placement, and breath control
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Fluency in English (B2 or higher)
  • Reliable internet connection and high-quality headphones

Who Should Apply

This role suits voice professionals—coaches, acting teachers, dialect specialists, or speech pathologists—who enjoy detailed analytical work and have the discipline to produce precise written reports. It will frustrate anyone who prefers real-time interaction, wants to see immediate impact, or dislikes meticulous documentation; the work is asynchronous, task-focused, and technical rather than creative or interpersonal.

Salary Insight

The $30–$70/hr range is wide, reflecting the spectrum from someone with voice basics to seasoned vocal professionals. At the lower end, it's roughly typical entry-level for audio evaluation work; at the higher end, it reflects rates for certified voice coaches or speech pathologists. You'll likely be placed based on demonstrated expertise during an initial assessment — don't anchor your rate in the middle, but rather in your actual background. If you have professional credentials (coaching certification, speech therapy training), lead with that.

Application Tip

Provide a brief writing sample: a 1–2 paragraph analysis of a voice recording (you can find one online or submit your own). This role is almost entirely about your ability to articulate nuanced vocal observations in clear, structured language. A resume listing credentials is necessary but won't distinguish you; hiring managers will make placement decisions on the basis of sample work quality and technical vocabulary precision. Show that you can use industry terms accurately and isolate specific vocal features rather than general impressions.
