Overview
micro1 is engaging Filmmakers to participate in a specialized video annotation project for a leading customer. Your work will help train next-generation AI systems by applying your expertise to assess and label video footage of robotic arms performing various tasks.
What You’ll Do
- Review and assess video footage of robotic arms performing a variety of tasks, ensuring precise observation and evaluation
- Apply detailed video annotation by tagging or labeling sessions based on clear grading guidelines provided for each scenario
- Identify and document subtle nuances, task completions, and errors demonstrated by the robotic arms within the footage
- Utilize industry-standard video editing and annotation tools to deliver high-quality, organized datasets
- Collaborate with trainers and project stakeholders through written and verbal communication to clarify requirements and ensure consistency
- Maintain accurate records of annotations and support continuous improvement by providing constructive feedback on guidelines and processes
Requirements
- Proven experience in filmmaking, cinematography, or video production, with strong attention to visual and narrative detail
- Demonstrated expertise in video annotation and editing, preferably using common industry tools and software
- Background in reviewing, grading, or annotating video content for technical or training purposes
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to spot minute errors or inconsistencies in visual content
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Who Should Apply
This role suits experienced filmmakers and video editors who have strong technical chops and enjoy meticulous, systematic work. You'll thrive if you're detail-oriented, self-directed, and can maintain focus during repetitive visual analysis. Avoid applying if you're looking for creative storytelling or dynamic production work — this is laborious annotation work where precision matters more than creative vision.
Salary Insight
At $21–$35/hr, this lands in the mid-range for contract data annotation work. The wide band likely reflects experience differences and possibly regional variation. For a filmmaker with production experience, this is modest; research what comparable annotation or data labeling contractors earn in your location and negotiate toward the upper end if you have strong cinematography credentials.

Application Tip
Lead with a specific example of a project where you graded, reviewed, or annotated video footage — this is the real skill the role needs, not general filmmaking talent. If you've done any technical annotation work (even for internal QA, film festivals, or training), lead with that. The posting emphasizes precision and consistency over creativity, so show evidence of meticulous documentation and error-spotting rather than your best cinematic work.
