Contract
United States, RemotePosted Oct 11$80 - $125/hr

Overview

micro1 is engaging with Internal Medical Specialists to contribute their medical expertise to a customer project focused on inpatient care and documentation standards. In this role, you'll apply your adult inpatient clinical training to help train next-generation AI systems by reviewing medical records, identifying documentation gaps and errors, and providing feedback to improve AI model quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Review medical records, including FHIR data and clinical notes, for AI training purposes
  • Verify that clinical information and claims are supported by the medical record
  • Review inpatient adult medicine documentation including HPI, PMH, medication reconciliation, social history, assessments, and plans
  • Identify missing, incorrect, or inconsistent information in medical records, including renal- and hepatic-adjusted dosing and medication interactions
  • Apply clear guidelines consistently across all review tasks
  • Share feedback to help improve AI models and data quality

Requirements

  • MD or DO, board certified in Internal Medicine
  • At least 5 years of hospitalist experience
  • Current or recent inpatient hospitalist experience within the last 2 years
  • Strong understanding of inpatient documentation and hospital workflows
  • Comfortable reviewing clinical notes and raw medical record data
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clear guidelines consistently

Who Should Apply

This role suits physicians with active or recent inpatient hospitalist experience who want flexible contract work and have a genuine interest in how AI systems learn medical reasoning. It will frustrate those seeking traditional employment, those who haven't touched inpatient medicine in years, or those expecting full-time clinical autonomy — this is structured documentation review work with explicit guidelines, not patient care.

Salary Insight

The $80–$125/hr range is reasonable for contract medical review work, though notably lower than typical hospitalist salaries ($180–$250/hr in many markets). The posting emphasizes this is "output-based" and task-oriented with minimum weekly submission requirements, so your actual hourly rate depends on how quickly you work through reviews and whether you meet volume targets — clarify these minimums before committing.

Application Tip

Emphasize recent, active hospitalist experience and any prior involvement in chart review, documentation improvement, or medical coding/QA work — these directly signal you'll move efficiently through the task workflow. The posting stresses "attention to detail and ability to follow clear guidelines consistently," so if you have examples of catching medication safety issues, coding discrepancies, or documentation gaps, lead with those. Ask upfront about the minimum weekly task volume and how pay scales with task completion speed, since output-based compensation can vary widely in practice.
