Overview

Mercor partners with leading AI labs and enterprises to train frontier models using human expertise. In this role, you will evaluate and verify the correct filing, profiling, versioning, and security of legal documents within NetDocuments, catching errors that could expose confidential information or lose work product.

What You’ll Do

  • Verify documents are filed, profiled, versioned, and secured correctly for the matter
  • Catch documents filed to wrong matters, wrong official versions, broken ethical walls, and unauthorized changes
  • Judge completeness of document handling — whether all related documents and emails were processed
  • Distinguish between what the system allows and what records managers or partners would approve
  • Verify that requests that should be refused (e.g., deleting documents under legal hold, sharing across ethical walls) are actually refused

Requirements

  • Frequent NetDocuments use — weekly or more — in current or recent role
  • 2+ years as paralegal, legal assistant, records manager, litigation support specialist, DMS administrator, or practicing attorney
  • Can identify misfiled documents, wrong official versions, or confidentiality breaches
  • Strong working knowledge in at least 2–3 specialized areas: litigation support, records management/matter closing, conflicts/intake, knowledge management, NetDocuments administration, or transactional practice
  • Paralegal certificate, J.D., or equivalent law firm experience (iManage or other DMS experience a plus)
  • Prior data annotation, labeling, or AI evaluation experience a plus

Who Should Apply

This role suits paralegals, legal assistants, and records managers who are meticulous, detail-oriented, and who think about confidentiality and compliance as core to their job — not add-ons. You should feel comfortable working independently on a flexible schedule and enjoy the work of spotting errors and judging edge cases. It will frustrate you if you prefer working as part of a team on document production or if you need structure and supervision; this is self-directed contract work.

Salary Insight

The $70–$100 range reflects a wide band that accounts for experience level and depth in specialized areas; attorneys and specialists with litigation or records-management expertise will command the higher end. Payments are weekly via Stripe or Wise, and you work as an independent contractor, so plan for self-employment tax and no benefits.

Application Tip

Lead with a concrete example of a real mistake you caught in a document management system — a misfiled document, a versioning error, or an ethical wall breach — and walk through how you spotted it and what you did. This role is about judgment and risk spotting, not just NetDocuments proficiency. Hiring managers will want to see that you think like a records manager or counsel, not just a user. If you have prior AI evaluation or data-labeling work, mention it, but your law firm judgment is what matters most.
