Overview
micro1 is hiring styling experts to review and critique fashion and interior design work. In this remote contract role, you'll evaluate outfits and room setups for fit, proportion, color, and brief alignment, and provide written justification for your assessments.
What You’ll Do
- Review and evaluate fashion looks and room setups against specific briefs and seasons
- Judge proportion, fit, scale, color, and material choices
- Flag practical styling issues (fit, fabric suitability, scale problems)
- Assess whether looks or spaces meet brief, budget, and setting requirements
- Write clear written explanations for styling decisions and critiques
- Write or improve styling briefs, mood descriptions, or shopping lists
Requirements
- Professional experience as a fashion stylist, wardrobe stylist, personal stylist, interior stylist, set stylist, prop stylist, or home stylist
- Real-world project experience including briefs, sourcing, fittings or installs, and client delivery
- Ability to articulate why one styling choice works and another doesn't
- Clear written English communication
Who Should Apply
This suits experienced fashion or interior stylists who have worked on real productions, editorial shoots, or private clients—people comfortable making and defending styling decisions in writing. Skip it if you're early-career without client work, or if you find it hard to explain your reasoning clearly and concisely.
Salary Insight
The range is wide ($50–$105/hr), which likely reflects different experience levels and expertise areas (fashion vs. interior styling, or established practitioners vs. emerging ones). Hourly rate for contract work, so factor in that you'll pay your own benefits and taxes. Research the specific project rates during your interview.

Application Tip
Lead with a specific project where you made styling decisions you had to justify—an editorial shoot where you made proportion or color choices, a client install where you solved a brief challenge, or a production where you sourced items under constraints. The curation interview will test whether you can articulate these decisions, so come ready to talk through past work with concrete examples. A portfolio link is more valuable than a long resume.
