Ethos is an expert network that connects experienced professionals with companies needing specialized knowledge to evaluate and train AI systems. Rather than a single job type, it matches experts to different project categories: AI training and evaluation, market research, expert consultations, remote consulting work, and full-time roles.

The AI-training work involves evaluating whether AI-generated outputs (documents, code, strategies, analyses) meet professional standards. For example, a data scientist might assess whether an AI model produces outputs a real data professional would create; a management consultant might evaluate AI-generated business documents.

Who they hire

Ethos targets experienced specialists across fields including data science, software engineering, finance, consulting, research, HR, communications, healthcare, tax, sales, strategy and marketing. The common requirement is genuine professional expertise in your field—you need to credibly judge or perform work at a professional standard.

You don't need AI experience; several current opportunities explicitly state that previous AI background is not required. Ethos trains experts on the specific tools and evaluation criteria for each project. You must be 18+, able to work legally as an independent contractor, and have reliable internet. Some roles require specific credentials (e.g. four years' data-science experience with Python and SQL).

How work happens

There is no single job or payment schedule. Ethos matches your profile to opportunities as they arise. You create a profile once, get screened via an AI voice interview, and can then accept or decline projects as they're offered. Work ranges from 5–20 hours weekly on flexible schedules, though exact terms vary by project.

Rates vary by role and expertise. Current examples: data scientists $100/hour (up to $2,000/week), management consultants $100/hour, software/IT generalists $80/hour, trainers $70/hour. Payment is confirmed per project and may be weekly, monthly, or at completion. Ethos uses Revolut or Wise as payment processors. Payment account must be in your own name. Only work completed through the approved platform and workflow is compensable unless advance authorization is given.

Worth knowing

• Joining Ethos is not a guarantee of work. No promises on frequency, quantity or availability of opportunities. Selection depends on profile quality, screening answers, expertise match, availability and past performance.
• Your profile must reflect real expertise, not generic skills. Vague profiles perform poorly with the AI matching system.
• Ethos has strict confidentiality terms. You cannot disclose confidential information from previous employers or clients, even during screening.
• Preparation, research and ancillary work are unpaid unless Ethos authorizes them in writing beforehand.
• Payment availability depends on your jurisdiction. Ethos determines supported payment regions and can change them. Even if a project says 'fully remote', check payment eligibility for your location.
• You must complete the required expert tutorial before participating. You may be required to repeat it annually.
• Declining a project should not penalize you, but patterns of poor availability or responsiveness can affect future opportunity matching.
