Overview
micro1 is engaging Software Developers to contribute to a dynamic customer project focused on digital innovation. In this role, you'll design and implement scalable software solutions while helping train AI systems through high-quality, real-world programming input—no prior AI experience required.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and robust software solutions leveraging Python, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, and full-stack technologies
- Conduct detailed code reviews, providing actionable feedback to ensure functionality, performance, and adherence to standards
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support architectural decisions and ongoing maintenance
- Collaborate in shaping software architecture and recommending industry best practices for long-term stability and scalability
- Participate in the analysis of requirements to deliver efficient, high-quality deliverables meeting client and project needs
- Contribute real-world programming examples, explanations, and problem-solving approaches as foundational input for AI training datasets
- Communicate findings, challenges, and solutions effectively using clear written and verbal communication skills
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven experience as a professional, consultant, or specialist in Python, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, or full-stack software development
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and reviewing complex software architectures and codebases
- Strong background in producing and maintaining high-quality, user-friendly technical documentation
- Solid experience with code review processes, offering insightful, constructive feedback to peers or contributors
- Ability to distill complex software concepts into clear, concise written and verbal communication pieces
- Experience working remotely and collaborating across distributed teams using digital communication tools
Who Should Apply
This role suits experienced developers who thrive as trusted contributors without close supervision and who genuinely enjoy code review and technical writing. You should be comfortable working asynchronously on a distributed team. It will frustrate someone who needs constant feedback, prefers hands-on architectural ownership over reviewing others' work, or expects to be deep in a single codebase rather than producing varied examples and explanations.
Salary Insight
$50–$70/hr is standard for contract software development in the US, neither premium nor below-market. The wide range likely reflects different experience levels within that 5+ year band. Contractors should budget for their own benefits and taxes; clarify whether this is gross or inclusive of their own overhead costs before committing.

Application Tip
This role hinges on communication and code quality as much as technical depth. Highlight a specific piece of documentation you've written or a code review process you've improved—show you can translate complexity clearly. The job board focus on "training AI systems" means they want demonstrated ability to write clear, pedagogical code examples and explanations; lead with evidence of that over a list of frameworks you've used.
